The Garden House is located just off National Cycle Network Route 1, and 5 miles inland from the coastline of The Wash in an area of open fields and quiet roads. The Wash is a National Nature Reserve and is a habitat of international importance, it is one of the few places in the South of England that can offer a feeling of real wilderness and solitude surrounded by amazing wildlife.
We have been keen Cyclists and Walkers for many years, and know what makes a great place to stay. We have a drying room, secure cycle storage, maintenance facilities, early breakfasts, pack-ups and a very warm welcome. If you are walking we can also arrange pick-ups if your route doesn't quite bring you to the door. We can also offer advice on walking and cycling routes, and even accompany you if you wish.
The Garden House was built in the early 1970's in a mid century modern style and retains pretty much all of it's original features. The ground floor is open plan with a vaulted ceiling and an abundance of glass which gives it a very light and airy feeling and brings the garden indoors. Their are patios to rear, side and upstairs for enjoying the evening, and dining if weather permits.
Set in beautiful gardens and with open views across countryside and to big skies, you can experience the tranquility of this area without leaving the house. We also have an abundance of wildlife, in the summer bats flit around the patios and barn owls can be seen hunting along the field margin. Marsh harriers, herons, egrets, hares and deer can also be spotted along with a multitude of other birds and small mammals. On dark clear nights the skies are very dark and stars very bright.
